FAQ:
1. What is the LET Table of Specifications (TOS)?
The LET TOS is a document outlining the structure, topics, and weighting of competencies for the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) in the Philippines. It serves as a blueprint for the exam, ensuring content validity and guiding the test construction process. The TOS details the different subject areas, the specific topics within them, and how many items will cover each topic.
2. Why is the LET TOS important for exam takers?
The LET TOS is crucial for examinees because it:
Serves as a study guide: It helps you identify the scope and content of the exam, allowing you to prioritize and focus on the most important topics.
Informs you of the weight per subject: It provides the percentage distribution of items for each subject area, helping you allocate your review time effectively.
Familiarizes you with question types: The TOS specifies the different levels of cognitive skills—based on Bloom's Taxonomy—that the exam questions will test, from simple recall to higher-order thinking like analysis and evaluation.
3. What are the key sections of the LET TOS?
The LET TOS outlines the following sections:
General Education (Gen Ed): Covers a wide range of subjects, including English, Filipino, Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences.
Professional Education (Prof Ed): Focuses on educational principles, teaching methods, curriculum development, assessment, and child development.
Field of Specialization (Majorship): For secondary level teachers, this covers their specific field, such as Mathematics, English, or Social Studies.
4. How does the TOS differ for elementary and secondary levels?
The main difference lies in the weighting of each component:
Elementary Level: General Education (40%) and Professional Education (60%).
Secondary Level: General Education (20%), Professional Education (40%), and Specialization (40%).
5. What are the enhanced features of the newest LET TOS?
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released an enhanced TOS starting in March 2023.
Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) Level 6: The competencies are aligned with PQF Level 6, which emphasizes higher-order thinking skills.
Difficulty Levels: The TOS explicitly details the percentage of questions that will be easy (30%), moderate (50%), and difficult (20%).
Bloom's Taxonomy: Questions are mapped according to Bloom's Taxonomy, covering different cognitive levels, such as Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyze, Evaluate, and Create.
6. Where can I find the official LET TOS?
The official LET TOS is released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). You can find updated versions on the PRC official website or through credible teacher-centric websites and forums.
7. How should I use the TOS to prepare for the LET?
Analyze the content: Study the topics listed in the TOS and cross-reference them with your review materials.
Assess your strengths and weaknesses: Identify the subjects or topics that you need to focus on and allocate more time for them.
Practice with mock exams: Answer practice tests that are aligned with the TOS to familiarize yourself with the question formats and time pressure.
Focus on higher-order thinking: Given the emphasis on application, analysis, and evaluation, don't just memorize facts. Practice applying concepts to situational questions.
8. Does the TOS change for every exam schedule?
The core content and framework of the TOS are generally stable. However, the PRC may release updated versions to align with new educational standards or policies, such as the enhanced TOS introduced in March 2023. It's always best to check for the latest version before you start reviewing.
9. Where can I find the latest TOS of PRC for Licensure examination for teachers (LET)?
You can fin the lates TOS of PRC on edureaper or PRC official website.
This Enhanced Table of Specifications represents the current standard for the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers and will continue to be used for future examinations, ensuring alignment with contemporary educational standards and the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers.
